As well, He "can't" perform logical absurdities (like make square circles). This does not slight His omnipotence. He can do what can be done. Being suprised is not an attribiute of Power, but it would diminish an attribute of omniscience. God being omnicient, then, is not surprised. However, I would conjecture to say that He can be pleasantly amused at how we individually work out our own surprises for ourselves, much like I appreciate my own child's efforts, despite the fact that I may know the outcome of whatever course of struggle he may embark. Let's not denegrate the Biblical witness, but stand up for it. Thanks. ~MDiv > > Well, I agree with what you have said here. Just a little note, though, the writer of that post has gone through 2 screen name changes(Speedball and Sentry), and hasn't been seen around here in a while. I don't know if he's lurking or if he just doesn't visit anymore, but if it's the latter, he won't be able to appreciate your answer. Sorry. Oh well, there's those who still read Forum #1, and they may be able to. The ones who were there might say, "Oh no, not this again" when they see the subject line, though. :) > > Nyper"Welcome!"old
Thanks for the heads-up. I didn't take notice of when that person posted, I just found his comments at the end of a search and thought I'd better hose it down in case some unsuspecting soul should come across it and be persuaded by it. I don't even know how to get back to His original, since I don't normally contribute to these forums and am uncertain as to navigation. I'm going to use his comment, to the best of my recollection, for a sermon illustration Sunday. I appreciate the Welcome Wagon. ~MDiv
