I'm pretty sure they didn't own it before, because when they merged it was a horrible mess. The web sites didn't work for weeks. And the new terms of service make you give up rights to anything on your site to Yahoo!, which kind of sucks if you are a professional writer or artist. So, a lot of people now boycott Geocities and it's not nearly as good as it was before, but it's still one of the best home pages I've ever had so I haven't changed from it.
