I have heard that Microsoft Internet Explorer now has a very small piece of code hiding within it. This code is normally innocuous, but set up a Hotmail account with this browser and you will suddenly have the account flooded with spam. The code sends your new address to whoever Microsoft wishes to sell it to. It's probably somewhere in the Terms of Service, but since no-one ever reads them that doesn't matter to them too much. And the proof? Set up a Hotmail account with Navigator. Nothing. No spam. Heavenly...

Well, Sounds good. Except that it's garbage. Microsoft owns Hotmail. Why on *Earth* would Microsoft need to embed some sort of code into Internet Exploiter to get your Hotmail address? No sir, Microsoft already *has* your Hotmail address, whether you set up your account using IE, NS, Opera, Lynx, Emacs, or what-have-you.

And as someone who has set up Hotmail accounts using Navigator, let me assure you, the claim of freedom from spam is baseless.
