I once flew across the continent with Kathy Crosby sitting across the aisle and never exchanged a word with her. Another time in an airport I ran across Alan Hale, Jr. He was dressed in the Aloha shirt and cap that he always wore as the Skipper on TV. I think that was a signal that he wanted to be recognized. I didn't stop for an autograph, because he was surrounded. > If I got on an elevator with Richard Petty, I might not speak, but if he was wearing the famous hat, I would probably say something like: > "Good morning, Richard. Or "Tell John to try to lead that last lap." But I wouldn't delay him or anything like that. Celebs are people, too. They are often on tight schedules. I try to let them be. > Howard
I agree with Howard. Yes, if they don't want to be noticed, leave them alone. I mean, you don't have to avoid them at all costs, just don't accost them with autograph requests or anything. If they're costumed like their character or in signature wear, yes, they might want notice. Here's a question, though: OK, we had a Celebrity Invitational a few years back. What then? I mean, these people are payed to come up here, they get to stay free, do all the activities free, and get all kinds of free stuff. For coming. Now, what then? Is it my right to come up and say hi? What else? Can I ask for 27 autographs for friends and family? There were globs of people around some of the stars, which can really, it seems, put a damper on some of their free fun. However, they are being paid to be there. Sigh... such a dilemma. Please help, Chris
