Bargain hunting

Last night, as I walk past a petrol station forecourt, I got called over by someone in a Land Rover who tried to sell me a watch at knock-down prices.

Now, the watches were definatly the genuine article, and he had various bits of ID and price lists to convince people that he's an authorised dealer. He told me that he'd been to a promotion arranged for BMW and his boss had said to get rid of the lot of these watches before he got back to the office.

This, as I'm sure you'll agree, is a blatantly dodgy set up. Still, in my book there are worse crimes than recieving stolen goods.

Anyway, I manage to talk him down from £60 to £30 for a £225 watch, including a 5 year garuantee. And a very nice watch it is too.

This moring I called the company he told me he worked for. Everything he had said was genuine, and it was entirely legit. If it hadn't been I would have probably returned it to the company, or at least thought about it.

But I think that counts as the bargain of a lifetime.
