suggests that the children are not the problem, the aging "system" is. These children are described as gifted, bright, and even the next step in human evolution

Okay - as a teacher, here's my take. GET TESTING DONE NOW! DO NOT PASS GO - DO NOT COLLECT $200.00!!!

I sincerely hope your child is not labelled as having ADD or ADHD, but if you are concerned enough to address this here, I would suggest to you that you would be very wise to take some proactive steps. It's a million times easier to accommodate a child with special needs when you know what those needs are, than to try to work with that child in a place of ignorance, possibly entrenching problems with and/or fears of school situations.

Plus, if you do it privately, you get to make the decisions yourself - otherwise, psychometric results go onto school reports and are forever following your child - even long after the problem has been resolved/addressed.

I've only done a little special ed., so I'm not anywhere near an expert. I have been around long enough in the "system" to know the wheels sometimes turn far too slowly. You'll be many steps ahead if you do some investigation now.

P.S. Make sure whoever you see is province/state and board certified. There are lots of "consultants" out there with no real qualifications.
