The problem is that Disney's there in the bookstores too. If the movie piques junior's interest in reading about the Dalmations, or the Mermaid, why, there is the colorfully illustrated DISNEY version, convieniently located up front in big displays, and priced right too. A lot of people never make it to the back of the bookstore where the "real" classics are.

Libraries seem to do a little better, though, which is good. My closest county library has a great collection of classic fairy tales from all over the world--I don't know how many books in all, but the shelves that hold it are 5 feet high by twelve feet long--that's a of a lot of storytelling.
