I thought the "once removed" stuff was for horizontal distance on the chart, not vertical. The vertical stuff is the first/second/third/etc. cousin stuff. However (if I'm correct), your cousin's cousin, who isn't really related to you, would be your first cousin once removed, whereas your first cousin not removed at all would just be your cousin.
