I'd rather see the underdog win rather than the favorite. That's why I liked it when Arizona managed to pull out the victory. But this post is less about the World Series.

I thought it was very disappointing. If it had been ANY other team besides the Diamondbacks representing the NL, I'd be all for the effort to stop the Yankees from winning yet again. At the beginning of the season, I wouldn't have thought it possible that I'd be rooting for the Yankees in the end, but I really grew to disrespect the Diamondbacks over the course of the year. I sincerely hope they follow in the footsteps of the '97 Marlins.

And were they the underdogs? I don't think they are (were?) as good a team as the Yankees, but I certainly favored them in the World Series, since they could start Schilling/Johnson for 5 of the 7 games. Without those two pitchers (and perhaps just without one), the Diamondbacks are a below average team. It's pretty amazing how dominant a 1-2 combination they were this year.

But, disregarding the outcome, it was certainly an exciting series (well, except for the two blowout games).
