Other than that the universe is God's creation and humanity is made in His image, the Creation story holds little theological importance for me except for one little belief of mine that I find a bit of evidence to in Gen. 1:1.
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth"
Note the time is referred to as only "the beginning." The beginning of what? What event could be adequately described as only "the beginning?" My theory: the beginning of time. Without time, terms like beginning and end are meaningless. I believe that time is one of God's creations and that He is not "within" time as we are.
Since I believe in an unchanging and all-knowing Deity, this bit of interpretation is important to me.
