After all, we're "minutes away" (to quote the Hyatt's Web site, but we think it's more like "a bunch of minutes away") from Bourbon Street and the French Quarter, and we're all determined to have a good time. Somewhere in between, we'll fall over and sleep for a few hours, but we also know that we'll be cramming as much as we can into the three-and-a-half days that we'll be there.

Don't miss Bourbon Street. Be sure to walk the length of it in the early evening and again late.
Don't be surprised at anything you see, and don't take anything too seriously. Bourbon Street is a hoot. I spent a week on Canal Street, half a block from where it intersects with Bourbon and I walked myself silly every evening. The food there is great. Really great. Don't let those old run-down buildings scare you off. There are top notch restaurants in there. Stay off the side streets after dark.

Don't forget to walk down Canal Street a few blocks toward the river. At the end of Canal, turn right a block or two and visit the Riverwalk which is a shopping mall where the World's Fair used to be. You might even run across a Las Vegas style casino down that way. There are boat rides to Tangiers, street cars to the Superdome, and lots more that you won't have time to see.

I feel an urge to run upstairs and pack!
