Some of you may remember my post about "my" horses being taken away at the end of summer. At least I thought they were going to be taken at the end of summer. But they are still here, and it's harder for me that they're still here than it would be if they were gone.
See, the people who bought them have been visiting them at least once a day at about six PM. That's when I usually feed them. I used to sing on my way to feed "my" horses, but now I feel like a secret agent in enemy territory, because "they" put up a sign: PLEASE DO NOT FEED MY HORSES. My. That's the word that really gets me.
"They" don't feed "my" horses much. One flake of hay for the BOTH of them is about what I've been able to figure out (I know where "they" keep their hay, and I sneak over after dark to see how much "they've" fed them). One of "them" caught my brother and I feeding them once, and said, kinda snobbish-like, "You really shouldn't feed them off the ground, it gives them colic." Now, I don't know much about horse diseases, but that sounded pretty ridiculous to me. I replied that I'd been feeding them that way for six years and I wasn't about to change.
Back when those horses were first put here, the owner managed to get harnasses on them. he later lost interest in them all together. One horse eventually slipped hers off, and after a couple years we figured out how to jerk the other's off. They haven't had on any tack since. But last week when I fed them, one had a harnass on again. And just a few minutes ago, I saw "them" chasing "my" horses with "their" horses and a lasso. If "they" have to break them, why do they have to do it under my nose? I know "they" have a ranch with other horses. Why can't "they" do it there? Why can't "they" just take them and have it done with instead of putting me through this?
I've made up my mind. I'm going to slip out there tonight and get that harnass off the one horse. I'm going to put it on the ground near a post and let them think the horse weasled her way out of it. Serves them right.
