I find that radio stations tend to butcher songs quite often. Usually it takes the form of talking over the intro or cutting it off before it's done. I would be inclined to think that when there's an actual change in the music, it's because the artist has released two versions- a CD version and a radio version- but not being a singer or a radio show host, I don't know.

I know both "Jupiter" and "Foolish Games" by Jewel are different on the radio. Which ticks me off, because I know one version, and then when I try to sing along with the other, I'm wrong.
