A Perfectly Good Song

Hey! It's a Grishny rant! I don't do these very
often, but hey, gotta vent somewhere, right?

I'm a fan of the Irish singer Enya. Her music is
very soft, melodic and relaxing. You could say
it has that "ethereal" quality to it. I know it's not
for everyone, but I really enjoy it. I have all of
her recordings and there's not much on them
that I don't like.

Lately, "Only Time," one of the songs on her
most recent album, has become rather
popular. They've used it on television (the
most notable occasion I heard of was on
'Frasier') and local radio stations have been
playing it frequently.

But today, I was listening to the radio, and they
butchered her song. They've added some sort
of dance mix beat to it, and it sounds horrible;
completely incongruous with the style of the
music. "Ugh," is all I can say.

Enya's music has rhythm enough, it does not
*need* a techno drum track added to it to get
people to listen to it. I suppose it must be
legal, or they wouldn't have done it, but if I was
Enya and I found out they were doing that to
my song without my permission, I'd sue their
sorry butts off.

the day flows...only time."shny
