> I was just wondering what it is about a song that makes it so great that it doesn't matter how many times you listen to it, you still love it. The first example I can think of is the Lifehouse song, "Hanging By a Moment." It's been all over the radio and MTV for months, yet I still blast it whenever I hear it. I dunno...it's just weird (at least to me) why some songs are like that (although different songs to different people, of course). I mean, HBAM isn't even an intricate song...the vocalist doesn't have the greatest voice in the world...yet something about it just leaves me riveted and I can't help loving it.

I have no idea what it is either, but I know EXACTLY what it is that you are talking about. I usually have about five to ten songs that I treat that way at any given time. Sometimes, when I don't hear an old favorite for a while, it gets a resurgence.

The best resurgence I can remember was just after one of the local radio stations changed from a "Lite" format to an "Oldies" format. My (now ex-) girlfriend and I were still listening to the station, because we hadn't found a new favorite yet, and "Money for Nothing" (Dire Straits) came on. I hadn't heard the song in about five years or so, I would guess. Well, I blasted the stereo like I never had before, and even though we arrived at our destination before the first chorus (we were in the car at the time) I made Amanda wait in the car until the song ended. My ears were ringing when it ended.

But that doesn't happen often.
