Actually, simulating 1G is not hard--all you have to do is increase the rotational speed. The problem is having the chain long enough to have roughly 1G at both the head and the feet, since different points along the radius are at different accelearations. If your feet are a 1G and your head is at 0.5G, I have heard that bad things happen... The cahin would be long enough so that, say, the feet would be at 1.1G and the head at 0.9G, or some such thing.
