I was a bit surprised to read this. I never got the impression that Atlantis was directed at children. It was made with a family audience in mind, but there are more to families than children, which is a line so blurred that "family" and "suitable for all ages" automatically registers as "for children only."

Darleen and I went to see Atlantis without any obligatory children in tow. I liked it as a movie for me, not as a movie that would be good for kids.

IABBBBM material? Not a chance. As for the nitpick about the Atlanteans suddenly becoming fluent in English, I agree that was absurd, but it was a functional mechanism by which a crippling language difference could be hand-waved away. Not good, but it should not singlehandedly determine the goodness or badness of the movie (I'm not suggesting any of you were) when there are SO many more important and overriding considerations when judging a movie's overall quality.

Not sure what the big deal was, Matthias. It was fun.
