I do believe that the rules of The Hornsey Club (which is by no means a government institution) reserve the right of the club to terminate anyone's membership without explanation at any given time, provided that they return the expelled member's subscription fee. This is also the way that membership of most of our political parties run - my dad once had his membership of the Liberal - SDP Alliance revoked without warning or any good reason.
