I don't know what his reception is on the critical front, but he's popular enough for his books to consume a whole shelf by themselves. He's liked by a small but dedicated core audience of fans of fantasy, comic books, and British humor. Not the mainstream here -- you're either into that stuff here or you aren't -- but his audience is quite large.

I'm not sure if he's been Americanized in our copies. The only thing I've read of his was his collaboration with Neil Gaiman. As I recall, the copy of Good Omens I read did have some Britishisms, so it's possible it wasn't butchered.

We had the fourth book last June or something like that. I don't even know when the fifth is supposed to come out. All I know is, we get the movie this November, and the director, being possibly the worst mainstream director of ALL TIME, will kill it.
