And nowadays nobody seems to care about the space program short of launching more communications sattelites. Not too many people seem to realize that there's an entire universe out there to explore. Heck, we've got a solar system that's pretty darned cool.

I agree. We could have done it too if people hadn't gotten so lethargic about the space program after the moon shots.
