I take the train. It gets me there just as fast as by car, and I get to sleep or read on the way.
No, I know that's not feasible for everyone, but it could be made to work many more places than it does today.

It can fit loads of stuff in it, the four-wheel-drive is great for when we go, for example, to Mexico, and it's a general all-around nice car. People say it's unsafe and dangerous, but I haven't noticed any problem yet. I think it depends more on the driver than the vehicle.

I seem to have put that badly. It is the number of people which makes me go "yuch!", not the SUVs themselves.
I might wonder a bit about the use of 4x4 when going to Mexico (unless it means driving through the Rio Grande), but I wouldn't really know.
