The college I ended up attending required either: A) the SAT I and three SAT IIs, or B) the ACT. Or, to put it another way: A) 4 tests, or B) 1 test. Guess which I picked? :)

Actually, the state I'm from (Ohio) is fairly big on the ACT anyway. The ACT is more popular in the midwest I think, and the SAT is bigger out east. Out west I have no idea, but I'd guess the SAT there also.

As for which is easier or harder, I dunno. I never took the real SAT (except one time in eighth grade for a talent search thing or something). I took the PSAT in 10th grade I think ['p' being 'preliminary' or something], which I didn't do well enough on to qualify me for the National Merit Scholarship, but I did get a nice little 'letter of commendation' which doesn't really mean much, but it's something to add to college applications and even resumes later on.

Talking to other people who took both, I think it depends on your style which is easier or harder. So I'd recommend yeah looking into the ACT, maybe you'll find it easier (even if it doesn't look it on first impressions).
