They are expensive, and take up a good chunk of my time, and I guess it is my social nature that says that if I am going to spend that much time and money on something, it had BETTER build up one of my social relationships.

That's interesting. My thought is, because I'm married, I don't want to drag my wife to a movie that I'm pretty sure she won't like because it will cost us double. If we both want to see it, then we'll spend the money. Somehow, she has the power to make me go to movies that are on her list, but not mine, much more often. I try to make her go with her sister or a friend so we don't have to pay for my sometimes unwanted ticket (Bridget Jones Diary is a good example. I refused to spend money on that movie but didn't mind if she did).

> Hear, hear, Monkeyman. You echo my sentiments exactly. I go out to only maybe two or three movies a year, and then primarily because friends/family want to go. There's hardly any movie I *have* to see, or have to see right away.

But videos seem to fit my lifestyle better somehow...for instance, I confess I actually *fell asleep* while watching "The Phantom Menace" in a movie theater, had I waited until the video came out, at least I could have hit the rewind button. :-)

Now, videos are another issue. If we rent a bad movie on video, at least we spent less money on it than if only one of us saw it at a matinee. Then we just have the bitter taste of a bad movie.

And if I see a movie by myself, it is often because I want to think about it on my own before I hear other people's opinions on it. Then, discuss away. I love dissecting films.
