I'm actually taking Iss's advice and posting something serious.
My principal's husband (I'm a sophomore in high school) died this morning. I got to school and around 11:30 I was in the art room and my friend was making this huge card and he said it was for Ms. Crandall, because her husband died. I didn't really think about how awful that was at the time, but now I have. He's been really close to dying for a long time, so it wasn't particularly unexpected, but one of the things that made it awful was that she's retiring next year mostly so she could spend time with him. All this year she's been at school almost every day, she's a wonderful principal, she's really kept the school on track and made it what it is, and now she'll be gone, and she won't even get to spend time with her husband like she was probably hoping to. I bet she'll be back at school next week for our last week, too. I guess it just goes to show that nothing ever goes the way we want it to. This seems particularly unfair, though. Why couldn't he have died AFTER she got some time with him? But he didn't, and it's upsetting. So there is now one more widow in the world - the only difference is that I know this one.
