I thought it got boring after a while, too. But if I remember correctly, I did like Cruel Lye (or whatever play on words the title is) back when I was a teenager. I can't remember that much from the series. His Immortality series was a better read, although the last two books could have been ditched. Anthony got on a kick of having his characters sing when they spoke in those later books. Every time he used "he sang" as a speech tag, it stuck out of place. That said, I remember liking the Death and the Chronos ones, but that was over eight years ago or so.
