It depends on the search engine.
Some add pages automatically, some require you to submit the address; some do it free, some charge real money.

...I've done a bit of experimenting, and some search engines do know your site exists (Google, my favourite search engine, being one).

A question: What were you searching for?
The only thing I could think of searching for was "cushman scooters", and your site was there, but way down the list -- there's a lot of web sites about Cushman scooters.
