It makes you wonder how far he will go. I can't look at a kid that age without thinking that he is the future. I suppose there is a little envy in there somewhere. > > Howard > > Envy? They probably figured you would live most of your life in the 20th century, and would have a very good chance at seeing the 21st. You would see things they had never dreamed of. They wondered how far you would go. > > Now look back at your life, at the "future". Have you lived up to their expectations? Based on the stories you tell here, I think that you have. But when you feel that envy, just think that Baby Grishny (or any other child) will probably grow up as I did-- feeling an envy for the things that they did not see, the things in the past... And you can be satisfied in the knowledge that the past holds treasures just as great of those held by the future. > > Don "I'm not sure if that was as cheesy and motivational as I wanted it to be, but I feel a great nostalgia for times before my own-- this post comes from the heart. :-)" Monkey
I thought it was well said. But, . . . er . . . uh. . . well, are you saying that my future is in the past? I remember when I was in the sixth grade, I calculated that I would be 67 when the 21st century began,(Jan.1, 2001)and that's just exactly how it worked out. That was my first and last accurate mathamatical calculation. Anyway, it got here sooner than I expected. In 2033, I'll be 100. I read in the paper the other day about a guy who died at 104. He lived in three different centuries!!! Howard
