You'll run into quite a few people who do rice their cars out, but you'll also see lots of people who are serious about performance. Names to watch for: Ricky Crow, Ed Sassler, no-control, vassago, Ji, Acid Beaver, Ryan Runnels, and of course me.

Hondas do have a ricer reputation because of the morons who sticker/fake tip their cars, but that actually works to our advantage since people are always SO surprised when you wax their tail in one ;)


Things to watch for in buying a used CRX:

Rust, Rust, and Rust. If it has any more than very light surface rust, look elsewhere because once they start, you have to catch it quick or you're in trouble. Areas to check: Rear wheel wells (look under that stupid black strip on the edge of the wheel well, and when you buy the car, take that strip off since it just traps gunk up under it). Door sills, underside of doors, and the spot where the bumpers attach to the sides of the cars should also be inspected. Check the car's records to ensure the timing belt was replaced between 60,000 and 90,000 miles - - -if it wasn't be prepared to replace it immediately. If it was replaced after that, check the engine for valve damage caused by a broken T-belt. Check the front springs- - the right front spring has a tendancy to crack if it's abused too hard. If it is, that doesn't stop you from buying it, but you'll wanna replace 'em (good excuse for performance springs, which will pretty much make you unbeatable in the twisties ;)
