I heard something from the rumor mill yesterday: supposedly, Lucas & Co. are hoping to cast Leonardo DiCaprio as the teenage Anakin Skywalker for Star Wars Episode II. My initial reaction to this idea was, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!"

After thinking it over a bit more, I decided that it's possible that DiCaprio could deliver a good performance in the role, but I still wouldn't want to see him cast as Anakin, simply because it would be difficult for an audience to watch the film and think "Anakin", not "Leonardo". I had a bit of trouble with Episode I, forcing myself to think "Qui-Gon Jinn", not "Liam Neeson".

The same rumor had it that only half the movie would feature Anakin as a teenager (the other half portraying later years in his adulthood), so if there's any accuracy to this at all (which is rather unlikely, but who knows?), then at least Leo won't be onscreen for the entire movie.
