Friday morning was beautiful. It had snowed about 4 inches that night and the snow was very light and dry. You could pick up a handful and blow it away like confetti.

Breakfast was good and the company was boisterous. The conversation was lively, particularly one man who had the room next to us. We could hear his voice throughout the Inn and while he sang in the shower. Everyone there was from New England except for us Californians. We were also the youngest by at least 15 years.

Portsmouth is a cool, old fishing town. We didn't get to spend much time downtown but we did find a neat toy store. We also learned the importance of wearing hats to keep warm.

Even though it had snowed, the roads were already clear and our Daewoo Leganza did fine travelling up to Burlington, Vermont. The trees were bare but the snow was pure white from the night before and it was fun driving through the small towns of white, steepled churches and forested back yards. We couldn't imagine how pretty it would be with leaves on the trees.
