I'm one of those people who says "I won't do what everybody else does", and then I go ahead and do it anyway. I think the word is "shallow".

When I'm talking about something serious, I usually just sign with my thingamabob: ~~*Q*~~. However, it isn't very serious looking so it pretty much wrecks everything.
