I just upgraded from an SE440BX motherboard/PII-400 chip combo to a Gigabyte GA-7IXE4 motherboard/AMD Athlon 1ghz chip combo. Everything's working except the game port on the SB Live soundcard. Anyone have any ideas?
I asked Sean about this, because he has the same processor and sound card. He recommended that you first try updating the sound card drivers from Creative Labs' web site (http://www.soundblaster.com). The site should have a section in there about known issues with certain motherboards.
He also suggested that you go to Gigabyte's web site and download their newest BIOS revisions. He said the AMD chipsets have a lot of bugs in them, and if you just bought the motherboard, see if you can return it and get a different motherboard with a KT133 chipset. With that board, you can upgrade to the new 4 in 1 drivers from VIA and that will fix a lot of the Sound Blaster Live issues. That's what Sean did with his system.
Good luck!
