I have all sorts of thoughts on this one, even though you asked for male responses and I'm a female. I think there are some imporanat factors that may affect this poem's impact, such as the age and maturity level of this guy, and the actual situation. Each person is very different, so one person may take interpret the poem one way while another may see it in a completely different light.
