anyone have any ideas on this win98 problem? posted by shadowfax on Monday, November 27, 2000, at 09:39:33:
Wait, you say the bios doesn't recognize it since it's not there under fdisk (?) but it is recognized at startup? You mean that if you go into the bios setup under the IDE options (I'm assuming we're not talking SCSI here) it's not being recognized?
If the bios isn't seeing it, it definitely sounds like a hardware problem (I'd suggest double checking my jumper/cable settings). If the bios is recognizing it and fdisk isn't, well, we can work from there.
My immediate thought was that it's a problem with FAT16 vs. FAT32 -- were you running Win95 A or B previously? Windows supposedly has stuff to convert from one file system to another, and though I've never tried it, it wouldn't suprise me to find out that they didn't work as advertised :P
