It was built in the 20s, and it's (now) a beautiful house... but at the time, a woman who smoked constantly lived in it, and the house was just a mess in general. My dad promised my mom it would be all fixed up by the time we moved in.... bah. we're still not done. Granted, he did all the major stuff (fixing the floor, tearing out and replacing basically all the ceilings and walls...) before we moved in. but we're STILL working on it, and i doubt it will EVER be done. but that's okay, its beautiful and it's fun.

This reminds me of a friend of mine whose dad has gradually rebuilt his house over the last 25 years. It started out as a two-bed bungalow and now it's a five-bed house! It's still ongoing as I type. I expect it'll be a 15-bed mansion by the time he's finished. He doesn't even care for what he's done before. A beautiful bathroom put in ten years ago was ripped out for a new bedroom and another bathroom beyond that.
