We had to sit around (often OUTSIDE, where bears are), with no way to communicate with each other, pretending we were talking to people we hadn't met. FQ wasn't quite as fun when it was all in my mind, but at least I didn't have to do anything three times...

Bah. I was on sabbatical then. I remember when we didn't have bears to be afraid of - we had to spend all day running in mortal terror from ducks. Have you ever tried to be afraid of a duck? That takes REAL effort.

And before that, we didn't have anything. We didn't even have ionic bonds. We just held it all together with duct tape, and we liked it fine that way! Do you have any idea how had it is to read "I Think" when you have to conjure up the whole thing in your mind, while wrapped in duct tape?
