Hey all,

I know I haven't been around for a while now, but I hope that you all still trust my opinion.. even if only a little bit....

I'm writing to tell you not to see Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2. I'd like to preface this with my feelings about the first movie so you'll know where I'm coming from. The original Blair Witch was a great movie in my opinion. There were parts that I didn't care for (like the constant use of the F word), but overall it did what a horror flick should do. It made me laugh, it scared me, and it left itself open for a sequel.

Now, no one really ever expects a sequel to be as good as the original. However, I do expect for the sequel to do a few things. 1) have something to do with the original, 2) get one step further to doing what the first one didn't, and 3) be a decent movie in itself. Blair Witch 2 hardly did any of these.

I won't give everything away, for those of you brave (stupid) enough to see this movie after this review. But I will tell you what I felt. About 45 minutes into the movie, I found myself praying that it would be over soon. I couldn't take it anymore. I kept looking for things to do. Like fixing the broken seat in front of me. Honestly that's the first time I would've ever just got up and walked out of a movie. However, my friends were there, and they drove, so I was stuck.

There were a ton of problems with the movie, but I'll just share the major ones. Basically, this movie didn't accomplish the goals that I talked about earlier. Firstly, it didn't really have much to do with the first one. The only tie was that the Blair Witch was blamed for what happened. Again.

Secondly, it didn't go farther than the first one did. Usually sequels build from the first plot, and get out more info. Characters discover new evidence, or something along those lines. This one wasn't like that at all. At first this movie had my attention. People were hanging around the town of Burkettesville and they were trying to find signs of things that had happened. This is how it should've stayed throughout the movie. Did I expect some sort of closure from this movie? No. Not at all. This is a horror flick, and so obviously should remain open for a sequel. However, I did expect some answers. Or at least some sort of attempt to answer the questions left open by the first movie. But no, I didn't get that at all.

Thirdly, the movie wasn't a decent movie. It was bad. Even if it wasn't a sequel (which basically, it wasn't), it should've had some sort of content for us to rest in. Perhaps it's just me, but I'm done with movies with people my age running around naked, smoking, drinking, and cursing up a storm. I'm sick of seeing it.

Possibly the best part of this movie was when the credits rolled at the end, and the audience let out a collective "Thank God". I never laughed so hard in my life.
