Another reason I hate telemarketers....

Being an occasional visitor to RinkWorks, I hardly ever read the message forum or post here, but I felt like sharing this.

My great-grandmother, who has raised me since I was six and who I loved very much and lived with here in this apartment the last three years, died last week. I haven't gotten around to changing the phone to put it in my name yet, since the funeral was only Wednesday--and it wouldn't affect the lists telemarketers already own anyway.

So I'm starting a bit of lunch for myself today, and the phone rings.

Me: "Hello?"
Guy on phone: "Could I speak to Mrs. Weeks, please?"
(I'm thinking: Telemarketer. I'll get rid of him quickly, as usual.)
Me: "Who's calling, please?"
Guy: "I'm with (some company). Could I speak to Mrs. Weeks, please?"
Me: "I'm afraid Mrs. Weeks will not be available."
Guy: "When could I call back to speak to Mrs. Weeks?"
Me: (getting a bit annoyed) "Mrs. Weeks passed away last week."
Guy: "I'm sorry. ...then could I speak to Mr. Weeks, please?"
(I'm thinking: ...)
Me: "Are you a salesman of some sort?"
Guy: "No, I'm not. I'm with (company). Could I speak to Mr. Weeks, please?"
(I'm thinking: Both an insensitive jerk AND a liar. Joy.)
Me: "There is no Mr. Weeks." *CLICK*
