Yes, I do know a couple who eloped almost 30 years ago and they are still very happily married. They were almost like second parents to me, so I used to spend quite a bit of time at their house. They complimented each other so well!

My fiance's (yes, I'm bringing Sean up again!) parents sort of eloped, too. His dad's father was dead set against the marriage. He said it would never last and he refused to give his blessing. Rather than face that, Sean's parents went to Reno with his mom's parents and sisters and got married there, without telling the other side of the family until after the fact. A few months ago, they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in Disney World.
