Tennesseeans Say "NO" to Telemarketers! posted by Grishny on Monday, July 24, 2000, at 12:02:11:
> I just read an AP news story about the state of Tennessee's new "don't call" list for telemarketers. Basically anyone who wants to can have their phone number placed on this list, and telemarketers aren't allowed to call them. The date for the list going "live" has been pushed back because of the tremendous response it has received; so many people have applied to be on the list that they've had to postpone the publication of it. > > Supposedly the telemarketing companies are in favor of such lists because they only want to call people who want to talk to them. > > Gri"put me on the list! I'm sure I won't be missed!"shny
I'm on the list. They haven't called in weeks and the ban hasn't even taken effect yet. It's great. However, I miss bugging them by trying to sell them something. "Have you ever considered restoring a vintage bicycle? I'ts a great way to relax after a hard day with a telephone stuck in your ear. I just happened to have a nice old Western Flyer and a ton of low-priced spare parts. I can even give you some tips about replacing spokes, removing rust, and finding those little ball bearings that always roll to the darkest corners." Click. Howard
