So your family has moved to North Carolina, eh? I used to live in Charlotte long ago as a child. Back in the early-to-mid Eighties. I know that's not long ago to some people, but it is to me.
We only lived about five miles away from Carowinds. Now it's Paramount's Carowinds. It's an amusement park, for those who don't know, very similar to King's Island here in Ohio or King's Dominion in Virginia. Anyway...that ruled. We used to get season's passes every year. But I was just a kid, so I didn't enjoy it as much then as I would now. I was scared to ride roller coasters that looped.
Charlotte was pretty big, I think. I don't remember a whole lot because I was only 7-9 years old when we lived there. I do remember riding the bus across town to go to school. That was the only time in my life that I attended a public school. It wasn't as bad then as it is now, I think.
We never went to the Raleigh area. That was on the other side of the state. We used to go to Garden City Beach on vacations, or sometimes to Myrtle Beach in SC. I think we had relatives in Winston-Salem, because I remember going there once.
Long after we moved away, I came back to North Carolina on my senior trip in high school. We made a stop in Asheville at the Biltmore Mansion, where they later filmed "Richie Rich." That is a pretty impressive place. I have an aunt and uncle who live in Asheville now, so we'll probably be going back there again someday. Maybe. If they don't move again. Last time I visited them they lived in Virginia Beach. Then they moved to South Dakota, and then to North Carolina.
Well, I guess I rambled, didn't I? But isn't it fun to read?
