Argue with a claims agent as you may, it would still be your fault because you swerved out of your lane and into them. So, if ever it happens that you're faced with the split second decision to either hit the guy pulling out in front of you, or swerve and possibly hit someone else, don't swerve. Otherwise you'll be paying for it for years in higher premiums. (This is from a hypothetical conversation I had with an agent; I'm not speaking from direct experience.) > > > > I'm sure that's a good tip. The only problem is, when one is faced with such a split-second decision, there isn't time to think it through. You just do what comes instinctively, which happened to be swerving to avoid a collision. Never mind that swerving could have caused another collision! Of course, now that I think about it, I could see down the road that I had room to swerve and not hit any oncoming traffic. Maybe if there had been cars there, I wouldn't have swerved. I don't know for sure. > > > > Gri"only has one accident on his record, and hopes to keep it that way"shny > > Sorta makes you wish you could slow down reality into "bullet time" from 'The Matrix' and really assess your options before making that instinctive movement that may turn out to be a mistake. > > Tra "follow the white rabbit" nio
Sometimes the most innocent thing causes a big wreck. The other day a guy flipped a cigarette butt out the window of his car and it landed in the lap of a driver going the other way. While he was taking care of that situation, he wandered into my lane causing me to lock up the brakes to avoid hitting him head on. Somehow, he managed to get back into his lane, but unfortunately the driver behind me drove off the road to miss me and hit a boat that was sitting on a trailer next to the lake. The boat burst into flames and burning gasoline ran down into the water and set several other boats on fire. Meanwhile a trucker got so interested in the fire, he lost control of his rig and turned over in the shallow water next to the burning boats. The flames set the truck on fire and as he ran for cover, his load of popcorn exploded. Pop corn rained down like snow and a mule in a pasture across the road saw it and froze to death. Would I lie to you? Howard
