The greatest idea

As far as I'm concerned, the concept of the public library is one of the greatest ideas ever. There is so much information available, on so many different topics, and it's free! Case in point: currently I have checked out "The Three Musketeers", "The Promise" by Chaim Potok, "Ethics for the New Millennium" by the Dalai Lama, The Audobon Society Field Guide to North American Trees, and a Velvet Underground cd.

It just kills me when people come in and they have to research a topic, but they have no idea how to use the card catalog to look it up because they never come to the library unless they have to. I can't imagine that. Did you ever read "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler", where some kids run away to live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art? I think if I could, I'd run away to the library.
