> A card catalog? What's that? I haven't seen one of those in YEARS. Up here, all the libraries have switched over to computerized catalogs, which while I'm sure they're a lot more convenient for the librarian who no longer has to make little cards, I must admit i kinda miss the old way ;)


I miss the old way of the card catalog here at the library I work at everytime the computer goes down, which can be quite often. It's amazing to me that the old librarians here just decided to throw it out, and not keep it as a backup. I can't tell you how often it would have come in handy, especially for our book database, which has been down for about 3 months. And the document database (we're a technical library, so we have more documents than books) goes down at least once a month for a couple of days at a time.
