I don't think so.

I remember, in much younger days, attempting to create dynamite in a secret lair at the bottom of the back yard (we had a large back yard).
Luckily, we didn't have a clue what dynamite was actually made of, and none of our experimental attempts would ever actually have exploded even if we had got around to lighting the fuses.

I was a demon with the magnifying glass, too.
