When I checked, 30% of the people who responded to the reader poll said they didn't have a bicycle.
That's really sad. You can't beat a bike for exercise, fun, effeciency, economy, etc.
But 70% have one, or more, and that's encouraging.

Personally, I have lost count of the bicycles I have, but I buy and sell them all the time. On Saturday, I picked up a bike for $5 at a yard sale. It's a Sears bike with a 3-speed Shimano rear hub. Works great, looks great. It's a red, ladies tourer with skinny tires. All it needed was a bolt to hold the chain guard in place and a little air in the tires. I rode it today and it rides just fine.

Earlier that day I bought a 35 year-old Western Flyer mid-weight with a coaster brake. It was missing the chain guard, but I have one that will fit it. Again, I only paid $5.

If you don't have a bike, try yard sales. I've seen some really nice bikes sell cheap just because the tires were flat or the handlebars were loose.
