Before you start working on your Schwinn, do a little research. Some old Schwinns are valuable as collector's items and a bad restoration can reduce the value.

Try www.bikeicon.com
That's a parts supply company, but they have some good bulletin boards that are specific to different types of bikes. You can get a lot of good advice and information there.

My weakness is vintage motor scooters, but I sell a lot of old bicycles to collectors. Tell me more about your bike and I can help you determine it's value and give you some tips on restoration.
Look at the tire size, type of brakes, serial number, and special features such as springs on the front fork, a horn tank or lights. Even the shape of the badge can be a clue to value. The serial number can be found on the headtube near the Schwinn badge or on the rear fork. Schwinn is one of the few bikes that lets you determine the year of manufacture by looking up the serial number. I can look that up for you.

Restoring a bicycle is a very satisifying project.
Good luck and let me know how it's going.
