I just saw Ronin for the first time this past weekend, and your comment above brought it to mind. One of the MAJOR things in the movie is never revealed, and the movie is somewhat confusing if you need to have everything spelled out. I enjoyed the movie very much, because i just took each scene as it came, and i assumed they'd tell me the information i needed to understand the plot, which they did.
