I didn't get to play a lot of tricks in college; I seemed more often to be on the receiving end. My freshman year, I lived in a two-room suite that shared a bathroom in between. There were 3 guys in each room. One night, at about two in the morning, the guys from the other room snuck into our room with a vacuum cleaner, turned on but unplugged. They left it in the middle of the floor and then took the cord back into their room through the bathroom where they plugged it in.

The first thing I remember thinking was "why is Andy vacuuming in the middle of the night?" Andy was one of my roommates, a junior. Then I opened my eyes and saw him crawling on the floor, trying to find the button to turn off the vacuum cleaner.

The next night we got them back by sneaking into their room at 2:00 am and hiding one of those mini-tape recorders in their laundry basket. We had it running at high speed to produce chipmunk-like voices. It was very amusing listening to them trying to figure out where the voices were coming from.
