October Sky was filmed in East Tennessee at nearby Oliver Springs. That area looks more like West Virginia than West Virginia does. My son was telling me about a friend who has a 1950 Buick that was in the movie. They had him drive by in the background a few times. I saw the movie, but missed the Buick.

Once in Atlanta, I passed a building with sandbags and machine guns all around it. The word was that they were shooting a Chuck Norris flick.
I guess all movies have to be made somewhere.
